Are you looking for a sensitive, careful editor for a nonfiction project of any size? Send me an email, and let's talk about your project!

about me

I'm a co-founder of "Short Reads," a weekly email-based publication showcasing flash nonfiction. (Sign up here; it's free!)Stories I’ve worked on have been reprinted in the Best American Essays, the Best American Travel Writing, and the Best Women’s Travel Writing and have been awarded the Pushcart Prize. I was a coordinating editor for the Best Creative Nonfiction series, published by W.W. Norton, and have helped edit and publish books and anthologies covering such topics as end-of-life care, personalized medicine, education, mental health, and parenting. For eighteen years, I was the managing editor at Creative Nonfiction magazine. Before I was an editor, I taught middle school Latin.

_Want to know more about my approach to editing?
I'm a contributor to the Ask the Editor advice column, where I've written about editorial transparency, how to approach receiving edits, getting a handle on pace, defining the scope of your memoir, and whether writing a memoir is worthwhile if it's unlikely to find a traditional publisher.
